Come and Hear…Zoom

Zoom of knitnut.net is getting to be quite famous around these parts. Her post from earlier this year on The Bank Street Bully sparked a police investigation and coverage by the press. That’s the kind of person Zoom is though — not really trying to be provocative, but sensible, thoughtful, involved, caring, and brave.

Her blog is a great place to go to hear about local Ottawa events. Although she’s recently been felled by debilitating back pain, once she’s back on her feet she’s sure to resume her busy schedule of art events, political rallies, and charity fundraisers. Even while she’s confined to her couch, Mayor Larry better be on his best behaviour, because Zoom is watching you.

Her posts on drug addiction — having once been an addict herself — are so informative and moving, they’ve changed many readers’ opinions on drug policy, including my own. And her recent battle with breast cancer has opened our eyes to the failings of our own supposedly ideal health system.

She’s the owner of the legendary Duncan, world’s largest cat.

Oh, and she also knits.

Come and hear Zoom at Blog Out Loud…she’s sure to give you something to think about.
